The outage hopefully won't impact too many students trying to complete the FAFSA, but the Department of Education is planning an outage for the StudentAid.gov website on Saturday, April 27.

In an April 25 Electronic Announcement, the Department said the Office of Federal Student Aid must complete maintenance on the website on Saturday from approximately 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Eastern time.

The Department said the StudentAid.gov website will be available during the outage, but users will be unable to create an account or log in.

"Users will be able to access StudentAid.gov site content, as well as any features that do not require log in, such as Loan Simulator," the Department said.

An alert will be posted on StudentAid.gov's home page, log-in page, and form landing pages notifying users of the site maintenance.
